A glossy, marbled floor that turns out differently every time it's poured. It's a decorative finish for rooms people see, rather than a floor for working on.
How the look is made
Pearlescent metallic powder is mixed into the epoxy and poured over a primed, tinted base. While it's wet, the installer works it with rollers, trowels and brushes so the pigment drifts, swirls and pools. You choose the colours and the general movement, but not the exact pattern, which is what makes each floor one of a kind.

What affects the price
Metallic floors usually cost more than flake or solid colour. The slab has to be ground flat and any dips filled, because a glossy finish shows every bump. Living with a metallic floor
- Put felt pads under furniture legs.
- Use doormats at outside doors to catch grit.
- Clean with a damp mop and a mild, neutral cleaner.
- Choose a satin or anti-slip topcoat for kitchens and wet areas.
- Once it's worn, it can be sanded and recoated rather than replaced.
